Generic Zyrtec-d Active Ingredient: Cetirizine-pseudoephedrine

Zyrtec-d is also known as All Day Allergy-D and it is a medication for allergy and cold treatment. It contains cetirizine and pseudoephedrine. Cetirizine represents an antihistamine and its purpose of reducing natural histamine levels and by doing so it alleviates the symptoms of runny nose and sneezing and so on. Pseudoephedrine is a decongestant, which is supposed to narrow nose blood vessels and prevent nasal congestion.

People with allergy to cetirizine and/or pseudoephedrine should not take the drug. Narrow-angle glaucoma, blood pressure problems, urination and heart problems are also considered contraindications for the usage of the drug. The following conditions are required to be discussed on the subject of use of Zyrtec-d: diabetes, thyroid problems, problems with prostate and some others. The medication is not recommended for women in the period of pregnancy and breast-feeding.

Zyrtec-d should be taken separately from the following drugs: ADHD medications, or any stimulants, MAOIs, diet pills or any remedies that contain pseudoephedrine as the combined use can be fraught with unpleasant or dangerous after effects. Alcohol is forbidden for patients taking this preparation. Zyrtec-d is able to affect your reactions and alertness and, therefore, should not be taken before any activity that may require them.

The medication should be taken once every 12 hours with food preferably. The tablets should be taken whole and not chewed or grained. One pill should be taken at a time; in case of a missed dose, the next dose should not be doubled.

The preparation can cause side-effects and cause allergic reaction. In case any symptoms appear, check your therapist at once.
