Generic Tiazac

It is a preparation of a calcium channel blocker (generic name of the drug is diltiazem). Therapeutic indication: angina (chest pain) caused by heart disease and hypertension.

Contraindications: hypersensitive response to the drug; current therapy with erythromycin; heart problems, very low blood pressure, or fluid buildup in the lungs during or soon after a heart attack, atrial fibrillation or flutter and a preexcitation syndrome. Other possible contraindications: heart failure, a recent heart attack or heart block, low blood pressure, a very slow heart rate, other heart problems, liver or kidney illness. The medicine can be dangerous for a fetus and infant therefore pregnant and nursing women are advised to consult the doctor before taking it. It can interact with the following drugs: moricizine, rifampin, amiodarone, cimetidine, HIV protease inhibitors, amiodarone, benzodiazepines, beta-blockers, corticosteroids, HMG-CoA reductase inhibitors, macrolide immunosuppressants, and some others.

The mode of administration: the medicine must be taken on a regular basis not exceeding the prescribed amount. Do not make any transformation to the tablets; take them whole. Should you leave out a dose do not try to make up for it taking a double one. Do not give the drug to kids.

The medication has a number of adverse effects. It evokes dizziness and sleepiness and can make you more sun-sensitive therefore should you experience any troublesome sensations contact your doctor immediately.
