Generic Phoslo Active Ingredient: Calcium Acetate

The medication represents a mineral and is intended for phosphate level reduction in late-stage kidney failure. Generic name - calcium acetate capsules and tablets. It functions by interfering with phosphate being absorbed by the stomach and intestines.

The medicine is contraindicated to patients having hypersensitive reaction to it, suffering from hypercalcemia or being on the therapy with digitalis. Consult your doctor before taking the drug provided you are pregnant and nursing. Do not combine PhosLo with digoxin, a bisphosphonate, a quinolone, a tetracycline, a thyroid hormone or any calcium-containing medications. Be utterly careful giving it to children.

The drug should be taken with meals. Do not exceed the prescribed norm and do not make up for a left out dose taking more medicine at a time than needed.
