Generic Ortho-cept Active Ingredient: Desogestrel-ethinyl Estradiol

The generic name for the medication is ethinyl estradiol and desogestrel and it represents an estrogen and progestin compounding; it is indicated as a contraceptive and is used for the pregnancy prevention.

It is prohibited for the women who are already in the state of pregnancy or nursing. The following conditions are contraindicative for the therapy with the drug: intolerance to Ortho-Cept, a hormone-related cancer such as breast or uterine cancer, blood clots in the legs, lungs, or eyes, heart attack, chest pain, or stroke, liver tumor or active liver illness, headaches with neurological symptoms, abnormal vaginal bleeding, and some others. Other possible contraindications are: hypertension, high cholesterol, triglycerides, or calcium levels, pancreatitis or gallbladder problems, obesity, diabetes, epilepsy, or a history of mental depression. The following preparations might be incompatible with the remedy: azole antifungals, griseofulvin, HIV protease inhibitors, St. John's wort, tetracyclines, beta-blockers, theophyllines, lamotrigine, bosentan, barbiturates, and some others. Refrain from smoking being on the therapy with the drug especially if you are older than 35 years old. Remember that the remedy does not guarantee the security from the HIV and AIDS.

The mode of administration requires that the drug is taken on a regular basis every day. The drug should be taken on a regular schedule not exceeding the amount.
